How to Clean Your Dishwasher

If being home has inspired you to do some deep cleaning, then one place that certainly deserves some attention is your dishwasher. Just think of all the work it does for you on a daily basis! It cleans and sanitizes dishes so you don’t have to and that’s a tall order. To keep your dishwasher running at its best, you’ll also want to wash your dishwasher on a regular basis.

I know I’m guilty of mindlessly filling my dishwasher with every load and innocently ignoring the fact that it’s collecting some yucky stuff around the edges. If this were my bathtub, I’d have that thing scrubbed out in no time! For the place that my food lives, my plates and silverware, I should also expect a similarly clean environment. The best part is that you don’t need to buy a special cleaner to get the job done.
This simple process will give your dishwasher the TLC it deserves.

Remove and gently clean your dishwasher’s filter.
Vinegar rinse: about once a month, run a dishwasher cycle with 1 cup of white vinegar in the dishwasher’s top rack.
Run a second, shorter cycle with 1 cup of baking soda sprinkled around the bottom of the dishwasher. This will help remove any stains and lingering odors.
Stainless steel cleaner will help keep the outside of your stainless steel dishwasher looking bright and fresh.
