This slow cooker Amish ham and potato casserole is a comforting dish that brings a taste of the countryside right into your kitchen. Growing up in the Midwest, casseroles were a staple in our household, and this one is a favorite because it combines the heartiness of ham with the creamy goodness of potatoes. It’s perfect for those busy weekdays when you want to come home to a warm, home-cooked meal without spending hours in the kitchen.
This casserole pairs wonderfully with a simple green salad or some steamed green beans to add a bit of freshness to your meal. If you’re feeling indulgent, serve it alongside some warm, crusty bread to soak up all the creamy sauce. A glass of iced tea or a light white wine would complement this dish beautifully.
Ingredients
1 pound of cooked ham, diced
6 medium potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
1 medium onion, chopped
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tablespoon butter, cut into small pieces
